The over 140 years old KWH Logistics Group has grown into Finland’s leading port operator with seven subsidiaries. The Group also provides industrial logistics services as well as worldwide international transports and has over 30 locations across Finland – of which over half are in ports.

“Thanks to our wide service network, we can offer superior full-service logistics entirely with our own resources. Our comprehensive service concepts enable cost-effective solutions and prevent sub-optimisation within the supply chain”, says CEO Joakim Laxåback.

Having such a broad geographical coverage and being completely family-owned gives KWH Logistics the agility and flexibility to quickly respond to the fluctuations in today’s turbulent markets.

“Launching new projects even on a tight schedule is something our professionals excel at. When necessary, we are able to make fast decisions as well as changes to the logistics chain and route options.”

In recent years, KWH Logistics has secured several new long-term contracts with different sectors and gained growth especially in industrial logistics.

“Our agility is part of the reason why demand for our in-plant logistics has been increasing lately – we have been quick to develop new services to better fulfil our customers’ needs at their factory areas and terminals”, Laxåback states.

The KWH Logistics Group has over 30 locations across Finland – of which over half are in ports.

For both KWH Logistics and its customers, building sustainable logistics solutions is an essential part of the cooperation.

“We have customers who want to use only biofuels and electric vehicles in their logistics. This boosts our commitment to provide more climate-friendly services”, says ESQ Director Petri Lehtipuu.

KWH Logistics has already invested in electric cranes and other material handling equipment in its logistics chain as well as in solar panels, LED lighting, and motion sensors in its different locations.

“The efficient use of data – such as emission calculations and refuelling station usage data – also plays a major role in making our operations more sustainable”, Lehtipuu emphasises.

Alongside sustainability, KWH Logistics strives to constantly improve its workers’ well-being. Through dedicated work on safety and health issues, the Group has managed to significantly increase the number of safety observations and reduce the accident rate in the past few years.
