Over the past two decades, Wapice has transitioned from a traditional industrial software house to a developer of advanced digital solutions. While AI has only recently gained mainstream attention, Wapice has pioneered its use long before it became a buzzword. The company has had a dedicated AI segment since 2019, and today it is being integrated across all divisions.

“Large language models have significantly expanded the usability of AI within our solutions. They enable a whole new level of interaction between systems and humans, allowing people to communicate with machines and processes in a natural, intuitive way”, CEO Pasi Tuominen says.

Wapice’s products include Summium CPQ® for sales configuration, IoT-TICKET® for managing IoT (Internet of Things) platforms and EcoReaction for monitoring energy use.

“Our product offering as well as our exports have grown significantly in recent years. Our ready-made solutions accelerate project timelines, reduce costs, and enhance data security. And when a fully tailored solution is needed, our Software Development Services are ready to help, as they have been since 1999. Industrial tailored solutions are the biggest part of our turnover”, notes Tuominen.

“AI has been a core part of our strategy long before it became a buzzword,” states Tuominen.

One of the company’s major successes is the Tampere Smart City project, which won an award in the 2023 World Smart City competition in Barcelona. Powered by Wapice’s IoT-TICKET®, the city utilises AI to optimise urban infrastructure.

“For example, we can automatically adjust water levels based on real-time weather data to prevent flooding, as well as monitor intersections to detect near-miss situations and accidents. AI solutions help in decision-making and can even be used in new services that enhance urban living. Alongside all those benefits, it also lowers costs and the city’s carbon footprint”, Tuominen explains.

As AI continues to evolve, Wapice ensures that its integration brings real value to customers.
“AI is not a solution on its own but a powerful tool that enhances existing systems. By combining technology with advanced engineering, we help our clients unlock greater efficiency and productivity,” Tuominen concludes.
