Founded in 1989, VEO has thousands of automation and electrification projects behind it. The number of ongoing projects keeps increasing every year, and so does their scale as customers look for larger and larger turn-key solutions.

The rise in demand is partly due to the fact that many of the company’s customers, from power plants to data centres, have been using VEO products for decades. These products, such as electrical switchgears, might need additional maintenance or a larger scheduled overhaul. VEO has also recognised a demand for both support and upgrades throughout the products’ service lives. This is why in 2024, VEO introduced a completely new service and business segment – Lifecycle Support.

“A service like this has been highly requested. Although we have always been there for our customers after project deliveries, this is the first time we have a dedicated team focused on supporting customers throughout the entire product lifecycle”, states CEO Timo Ala-Heikkilä.

Whether a customer’s VEO product needs updating, replacing, monitoring, maintenance, or inspection, the Lifecycle Support team is ready to help around the clock. The company also provides all necessary spare parts.

Updating, replacing, monitoring, inspecting, and maintaining VEO products – our lifecycle support team does it all

“Technology has come a long way since VEO’s early days. Today, many customers want us to remotely monitor their equipment and provide off-site support. This is the case for many power plants, for example”, Ala-Heikkilä says.

“To enable centralised remote monitoring and support from our control centre, many power plants need to be modernised by making improvements to the older VEO equipment. With the new Lifecycle Support service, we can react to customers’ needs faster and thereby become even more agile”, he continues.

The VEO factory in Vaasa produces around 8,000 switchgear cubicles annually.

Ala-Heikkilä also emphasises the importance of proper and easier recycling as part of the lifecycle service.

“Thanks to our cooperation with recycling companies, VEO is able to take care of the recycling of old equipment from start to finish on behalf of the customer.”

VEO is recruiting several members to the Lifecycle Support team in Finland, Sweden, and Norway. In each country, customers will have a designated contact person.

“We are looking forward to building Lifecycle Support into a significant business with our customers”, Ala-Heikkilä says.
