Fluid-Bag encourages exercise
One might think that having a physical job would result in spare time spent relaxing on the couch. However, production worker Tommy Haglund at Fluid-Bag has a hard time staying still – he stays active on his way to work, at work, and after work.
“Exercising is a lifestyle and passion for me. I do a lot of different endurance sports like orienteering in the summer, and cross-country skiing and biathlon in the winter. In addition, I cycle to work all year round.”
What Haglund likes best about sports is competing. At the age of 56 he is still going strong and competing in cross-country skiing and biathlon Masters Championships each year. Over the years, he has gained no less than 80 medals in the Finnish Championships and 10 medals in the World Championships.
“It is easy to combine this kind of active lifestyle with the shift work I do here at Fluid-Bag. I appreciate the chance of working evening shifts, as it gives me the possibility to exercise during the daytime.”

Tommy Haglund also appreciates the fact that Fluid-Bag encourages its employees to exercise. The company arranges an internal Move it campaign for employees and each month, a gift card is handed out to one of the participants. Currently, there is also a playful exercise contest taking place between Fluid-Bag and its sister company Solving.
Fluid-Bag also organises well-being days as part of the regular working hours and invests in its personnel by fostering a culture that supports work-life balance. This is evident through low hierarchies and flexible working hours.
I really like that I do not have to sit in front of a computer at work.
All these measures have resulted in an exceptionally low staff turnover. Tommy Haglund has worked at Fluid-Bag for 20 years so far and he is not planning on going anywhere else.
“Being in good physical shape helps me perform well at work, as I walk up to 10,000 steps during a normal workday. I really like that I do not have to sit in front of a computer at work”, Haglund says.
And as if he did not have enough exercise commitments already, Haglund is currently also planning on running a marathon together with a group of colleagues.
