While the world races to cut emissions and embrace renewable energy, the transformation is driven by technologies that most people never see. Danfoss is a global technology leader developing these essential solutions, optimising energy use in various sectors like marine, mining, and energy. Danfoss’ Vaasa site is a key manufacturing hub for AC drives and power converters serving global markets.

“Our drives are the control centre between energy production and consumption, enabling smarter, more efficient power management”, says Nicklas Södö, Director of Technology.

As the electrical grid evolves with more renewables, maintaining stability and reliability becomes increasingly complex. Danfoss’ modular power converters offer a solution, ensuring efficient energy transfer and supporting grid stability.

“We envision a future powered by smart electrical grids, and we’re committed to providing the technology that makes this possible”, says Laura Frisk, Head of Technology & Innovation. “Our solutions help improve energy efficiency and minimise waste.”

Designed and manufactured in Vaasa, Danfoss’ new iC7 AC drives are proving their effectiveness in reducing CO2 emissions on Wasaline’s hybrid-electric ferry, the Aurora Botnia. Even greater environmental benefits will be achieved with the planned integration of biogas.

Danfoss drives innovation through active research collaborations with universities, institutions, and companies. A prime example is the company’s participation in the EU-funded Ideal4Green Doctoral Network Program, tackling the grid challenges posed by large-scale hydrogen production. Danfoss also contributes to accelerating Finland’s transition to carbon-neutrality through Business Finland’s Fossil Free Future program.

“Our collaborative research approach, leveraging expertise from partners across various fields, is key to developing comprehensive and impactful innovations for our customers, both now and in the future”, explains Frisk.

This commitment to quality, innovation, and research is the foundation of Danfoss’ success and its top-tier products.
