The acquisition of Maviteknik widens Österberg Group’s service range
Over the last 20 years, the Vaasa-based Österberg Group has made several acquisitions especially in Ostrobothnia and nearby regions. However, in 2020, the group acquired the metal workshop Maviteknik that is located in Humppila, a municipality in Southern Finland. Now, the Group consists of 10 companies that operate in the metal and plastic industries.
“Maviteknik significantly widens our Group’s service range. The company’s core expertise is the demanding welding and assembly of pipelines and pipeline modules as well as related electrical and hydraulic installations. Together we can offer our customers more comprehensive service than before”, says Matias Österberg, the Group’s CEO.
After joining the Österberg Group, Maviteknik has made big investments. The company has two factories in Humppila – a pipe manufacturing and an assembly factory. In the assembly factory, all modules and assemblies are made according to the customer instructions and tested before delivery to end customers. Due to growing demand, the company is in the midst of an expansion project.

“We are going to move our pipe manufacturing operations to the assembly factory site, which means a 2,000 square metre expansion to the production facilities. This way, we can have all our operations on one site. With the new expansion, our internal logistics will be streamlined and the synergy between the factories will deepen even more. At the same time, we can respond to the growing demand better”, states Timo Ruokonen, COO at Maviteknik.
The municipality of Humppila is participating in the expansion project, and the investment decision was made in 2022.
Another rather new investment at Maviteknik is a fully automated pipe bender.
“Thanks to this investment, we can now manufacture, for example, railings without any intermediaries. On top of our customers, this also benefits other companies in the Österberg Group,” says Ruokonen.
