Alteams is lightening the load with aluminium
Alteams, headquartered in Laihia, provides tailored cast aluminium components to a diverse range of industries. In addition to its two production plants in Finland, Alteams has factories in China and Poland, and a joint venture in India. Thanks to its global reach, the company is able to offer regional manufacturing.
“We support clients in Europe and Asia with their regionalisation efforts, helping them reduce cross-border shipments. Having production nearby also reduces transport emissions and the need for large inventories or bulk orders”, says CEO Arto Lehtinen.
Regionalisation goes hand in hand with Alteams’ commitment to sustainability. The company is set to begin including carbon footprint estimates with all product quotations.
“We want to give our customers a transparent breakdown of our products’ environmental impact. We source our aluminium ingots from suppliers who are able to calculate their own carbon footprint. We are constantly investing in more energy efficient technologies to secure that we are reaching our own challenging global target to reduce CO2 emissions by 50% before 2030”, Lehtinen explains.
As a testament to Alteams’ sustainability efforts, the company has received an EcoVadis Silver Medal, ranking it among the top 15% of companies worldwide in sustainability performance.

With its abundance and recyclability, aluminium is a crucial material for the future, especially regarding electrification. The lightweight and sustainable nature of aluminium offers many benefits.
“Customers who previously shifted to plastic products may need to return to cast aluminium for sustainability reasons. Additionally, we help clients replace heavy iron castings with aluminium, significantly reducing fuel and energy consumption”, Lehtinen points out.
Alteams offers advanced technologies, such as the friction stir welding (FSW) with a welding robot at its Laihia facility.
“We’re constantly discussing new technologies with our customers to ensure we remain at the forefront of innovation. Our facilities have room for new clients, and we’re ready to support them wherever they are”, Lehtinen concludes.
