Established in 2019, Wasa Innovation Center (WIC) is a collaborative hub for over 200 specialists in technology, health, education, culture, infrastructure, and logistics, with an ambition to improve the performance of both public and private sectors. In addition to fostering collaboration, renting office space, and hosting events, WIC also curates exhibitions. The Hall of Fame exhibition showcases innovations of local industry giants, which account for 75% of all regional flow of money – both public and private. The adjacent Hall of Energy, opening in 2025, will explore the societal role of energy.

“The Hall of Fame showcases not just the best in Finland or Europe, but the best globally. It demonstrates the true scale of the economic and social effects of real, practical innovations”, says Sture Udd, Managing Director.

One of WIC’s many initiatives is the WIC Science Channel on YouTube. The channel, which shares weekly insights into crucial science and technology developments, has amassed an engaged audience of up to 10,000 viewers per week.

“Our mission is to provide knowledge that benefits not just local innovation but global progress. We cover topics such as AI, robotics, and green energy, inspiring viewers to think critically and act on solutions for a better future”, explains Editor Sami Pöntinen.

The channel is a valuable resource for anyone seeking to profit from the rapid technological changes of today and gain new possibilities in life.

“If you spend just three minutes a week watching the channel, within a year you’ll find yourself operating on an entirely new level – working smarter, living smarter, and contributing more effectively to society. And what’s best, it’s completely free”, adds Udd.

WIC’s influence extends far beyond its exhibitions and media presence. It is involved in projects with a combined portfolio value of 15 billion euros, collaborating with over 20 European research groups and leading Finnish institutions.

“We are a part of developing solutions in areas like photonics, circular economy, and advanced sensor technology. By combining good people with global ambition, we are shaping not only the future of Ostrobothnia but also the trajectory of innovation worldwide”, Udd states.
