Osuvakoulutus and Kpedu respond to local needs for industrial expertise
The process and metal industries are growing fast in Central Ostrobothnia – companies are making big investments while new companies are starting operations. To ensure that these companies have the necessary workforce to develop and succeed, Kpedu and Osuvakoulutus offer a wide range of educational services.
“While Kpedu specialises in education that leads to, for example, a vocational qualification, Osuvakoulutus’ services are aimed especially at job seekers, employees, and employers. This means short-term training that either gives the participants the basic knowledge and skills to work in an industrial company or a possibility to further strengthen their expertise”, says Anu Haapasalo, CEO of Osuvakoulutus.
At Osuvakoulutus, one can participate in certificate and card courses that are open to all. However, together with Kpedu, Osuvakoulutus organises training tailored especially to companies’ needs.
“If an industrial company needs more workforce, we have the resources to build a recruitment training package for unemployed job seekers and people who want to change careers. This is what we did when local companies needed more maintenance fitters. Osuvakoulutus carried out a training programme together with Kpedu’s mechanical and production engineering as well as processing industry specialists. As a result, all the participants were recruited”, states Petri Ahoniemi, Industry and Logistics Division Manager at Kpedu.

“We also offer tailored personnel training to ensure employees’ up-to-date know-how amid the rapidly changing industrial environment. We can plan the best possible skills development programme for companies’ individual needs”, he adds.
Kpedu and Osuvakoulutus have long-term partnerships with multiple local industrial companies. This cooperation makes the proactive development of education possible.
“Preparing for the future does not only mean offering quality education, but also making it more available. Together with local businesses, we search for the best possible educational solutions to maintain our region’s competitiveness”, says Haapasalo.
