For decades already, Roschier has been a leading law firm in Finland. Since 2005 the firm has successfully established itself on the Swedish market as well. Today about half of Roschier’s lawyers are based in Stockholm and a significant part of its business is generated there.
“Our growth in Sweden has been purely organic, which makes this quite an achievement. Today we are a genuinely cross-border Nordic law firm,” states Stefan Wikman, Senior Advisor at Roschier.
The development has been dynamic in many ways; part of the firm’s management is today based in Sweden, and Roschier has recently moved into new premises in Stockholm.
“Stockholm is the financial centre of Scandinavia, and the Swedish economy is doing well. More and more companies also want a legal partner that operates on both markets. This is part of the reason behind our growth.”
The turnover of the firm has increased by over 17 per cent during the last fiscal year.

The biggest volume in Roschier’s operations comes from Mergers and Acquisitions, an area which normally keeps law firms busy. Financing and Restructuring as well as Technology-related assignments and projects are other important areas for Roschier. Public listings is yet another booming area.
“By October 2017 we have advised on every main list IPO at the Finnish Stock Exchange (Nasdaq Helsinki), including the Rovio IPO in September 2017, which was the biggest IPO in Helsinki in over 10 years. We acted as their legal advisor in the listing process,” Wikman says.

Roschier continuously develops its services, and investing in digitalization is a natural step for the firm; e.g. artificial intelligence is currently tested in due diligence investigations to replace manual repetitive work. Digitalization also means that a physical presence is less important than before as client contacts and assignments can be handled online. This trend is one of the reasons why Roschier has decided to close its office in Vaasa. To ensure direct access to the firm’s services, Wikman will continue to be present in Vaasa and remain the main contact for clients in the region.
“We have assigned a special team of Roschier experts, ‘Team Ostrobothnia’, who are dedicated to working with companies in the Vaasa region. In this way, the companies in Vaasa benefit from the expertise in the whole firm regardless of where the lawyers are located,” says Wikman.
