Everything the people at Hanken decide to do, they do with excellence. The university is triple accredited (EQUIS, AACSB, AMBA), one out of only 70 universities globally with this status. Ranked also by Financial Times and UMultirank, students and partners can rest assured to get high quality education, executive training, research and service with internationalisation as an important part of all activities.
“We think of our way of working as an eco-system. All layers of the system have to be in great shape in order for the system to grow. We also believe that diversity, regarding both people and organisations, is important for the system,” says André Österholm, Director at Hanken Executive Education in Vaasa.
Hanken Executive Education Vaasa has over 200 participants yearly from the business sector with courses focusing on areas such as leadership in business processes, competence and professional development. With social responsibility as another element at the core of its activities, Hanken works with both companies and authorities.
“As an example, we arrange courses in Business Administration and Management for immigrants, which has generated excellent feedback,” says Österholm.
In order to foster entrepreneurship and further bridge studies and working life, Hanken has launched the concept Hanken Business Lab. Here companies, students and alumni meet up around new concepts, ideas and solutions.
“We think there is creativity and possibilities in diversity,” says Nina Ingves Head of Hanken Business Lab in Vaasa.
Hanken has nearly 14,000 alumni and hosts a very popular mentorship programme linking students to the corporate world.
“We have a saying: once a Hankeit, always a Hankeit. There is a certain bond between our alumni and students, and we strive to make the most of it. Alumni engage in a number of ways, for example many of our students have alumni mentors to turn to for advice on e.g. career choices,” says Sören Kock, Professor and Dean of executive education at the Vaasa campus.
“Hanken’s high-quality research makes it easy for us to take the results to the market and help companies and individuals develop. We have customers from all over Finland, and from Sweden, which adds to the diversity in the courses,” Österholm sums up.
