A product’s fabrication costs are often already determined at the design stage. Taking easy manufacturability into account during the design phase means that the company can significantly reduce manufacturing costs. Laine-Engineering is a contract manufacturer of mechanical and electromechanical products. The company offers its top know-how and expertise for component design, manufacture and assembly.
“We stand out in the market by being involved with our suppliers at the early design phase. While a product is being designed, we can influence its manufacturing costs considerably. Thanks to our experience in manufacturing, we can recommend manufacture-friendly designs which result in considerable savings for our customers at the manufacturing stage,” says Managing Director Tarmo Karhapää.
Laine-Engineering focuses on customised client projects. The company always manufactures and assembles products according to its customer’s designs, instructions and processes. Its service palette includes everything from early supplier involvement and material procurement to manufacture, surface treatment and assembly. In addition to steel and aluminium, the company also uses copper, a common material used in electrical products. According to Karhapää, the company has diverse plant and equipment and flexible capacity, which allow it to respond extremely well to various kinds of manufacturing needs. Laine-Engineering’s manufacturing processes include, for example, sheet metal work, welding, CNC machining and outsourced surface treatment services.
“The smallest products we have produced are the size of a thumbnail and the largest weigh several tonnes. Everything we make is tailored to a high degree, and we can offer our solutions as a one-stop shop. In the assembly of electromechanical cabinets, for example, we can first cut and bend the steel plate pieces into a cabinet, acquire and connect the components and finally test, pack and deliver the product to our customer’s warehouse,” Karhapää explains.
High-quality work is the number one consideration for Laine-Engineering. If the customer wishes, they can define a customer-specific quality control plan, in which the customer and Laine-Engineering together determine how and to what degree of accuracy the quality of the product will be controlled throughout the process.
“Quality and excellent service are our lifeblood. Because we offer such a broad range of services, we follow the requirements of the field continuously and keep developing our own operations.”
