Say the word ”Swan” and every sailor will know that you are talking about luxurious, high performance yachts from Northern Finland.
“For me, it’s love at first sight when I see a Swan in any harbour. A Swan represents a guarantee of timeless excellence, epitomising a perfect union of style, comfort and performance,” says Leonardo Ferragamo, who has managed Nautor’s Swan since 1998.
It all started in 1966 when Pekka Koskenkyla founded Nautor Oy, inspired by a vision of producing high quality and high performance sailing yachts, made for those with a passion for cruising and racing. This was despite the challenging environment around the small town of Jakobstad, where temperatures can fall to -30 C in winter and the sea can be frozen for up to five months of the year.
“When Pekka Koskenkylä built the first Swan, Tarantella, and created the myth of the brand, he combined three elements: strong local tradition, global expertise and technological innovation. The Finns have quite a technical mindset and posses amazing craftsmanship, great attention to detail and a focus on quality. They are committed to a quest for excellence that has passed down from generation to generation.”
From the design process to production, the best quality materials and innovative technology are used to deliver the most elegant and safest sailing yachts in the world. Everything is manufactured locally, from lamination and carving of the plugs to every detail in interiors which are crafted by hand.
“For our owners, a Swan is more than a boat, it is a way of life. Swan owners often have special requests, such as the owner of the first Swan 105 RS who wished to have sliding glass doors opening up into the master cabin. Not an easy feat, but the design team took on this challenge and delivered a revolutionary cruising Swan for this owner.”
In September 2015, Nautors’ Swan presented the first Swan 115, the flagship of the new generation of the maxi yachts built by Nautor, and unveiled the new ClubSwan 50.
“The ClubSwan 50 is a high-tech, aesthetically captivating one-design yacht, that will appeal to the young and competitive while still allowing the pleasure of cruising in the true spirit of Swan.”
