The improved product family of protection relays is designed for protection needs ranging from minor and basic to advanced. As is typical of Vamp, these products are extremely competitive in price.

A protection forerunner

Vamp’s top quality protection technology is also easy to use

Vamp is one of the best protection relay manufacturers in the world and an innovative trailblazer of arc flash protection. The company excels, in particular, in its expert product development, constantly producing something new for the market. The philosophy of this subsidiary of Schneider Electric is to develop and manufacture high-end and cost-effective protection products that are easy to use. As is typical of Vamp, its production line is working on something new and groundbreaking right now.

“We are making our product portfolio so outstanding that it will ensure we remain a forerunner for years to come. We have improved our line of production relays and further developed our innovative mindset, for example, in our new arc flash protection series,” says Managing Director Marko Kuokkanen.

Vamp’s new product families of protection relays are each developed for their own segment: Vamp11 is intended for consumers and industrial protection, Vamp57 for basic substation protection and the largest 300 Series for more demanding applications.

The purpose of arc flash protection is to register any faults in switchgear as quickly as possible and to immediately shut down their activity, preventing damage to equipment or injury to personnel. The improvements Vamp has developed will considerably simplify the use of the product, resulting in turn in a transformation in the way the sector thinks.

“Our new Vamp110 arc flash protection product covers 80% of the applications of substation switchgear. Start-up is easy, because the configurations have already been made,” Kuokkanen explains.

“Our new Vamp 110 arc flash protection covers 80% of switchgear applications as it is, so there is no need to make separate configurations anymore. Start-up is extremely easy; you can select the functions you want using the display panel,” he says.

The arc flash protection market is focused on the advanced end of the spectrum, which requires special know-how and in which Vamp is a global forerunner. With their new product, they aim to simplify switchgear manufacturers’ adoption of arc flash protection.

According to Kuokkanen, Vamp’s strategy is to be easy in every way: easy to order, easy to install, easy to use. Their success will be built on their ability to fully support their customers’ digitising experiences. This approach enables VAMP to also achieve simple user interfaces and better software for their new protection products.

“Thanks to our progressive product development and parent company, we are also entering new market areas. Schneider Electric has given us the worldwide responsibility of developing the Vamp brand and we are working hard to achieve this.”
